London, United Kingdom – SMEStorage today announced that its unique CloudDav offering has been updated to support WebDav access to DropBox and Google Storage. CloudDav adds a WebDav access layer to any cloud that SMEStorage supports though its Cloud Gateway, even if the underlying Storage Provider does not support WebDav.

This has particular use on mobile platforms such as the iPhone and iPad as many Applications support WebDav access, but not access for certain file clouds. Apple iWork is a good example of this, It supports integrations for editing and saving documents with MobileMe, and WebDav, but nothing else. Using SMEStorage CloudDav users can edit and save documents to not only DropBox and Google Storage, but also over 10 other clouds, including Amazon S3, Microsoft SkyDrive, and Google Docs.

As well as iWork other iPhone/iPad WebDav enabled applications can be used such as Readdle Docs, and Office2 HD. CloudDav is also useful for other mobile platforms such as the Nokia N8 Smartphone which features a native WebDav client on the phone, and this can be used with CloudDav to enable native access to many file clouds.

Users who purchase or have purchased the iSMEStorage iPhone or iPad Application can send a screenshot of the App login screen with their username to SMEStorage support and have CloudDav enabled free for their account.
