CAMBRIDGE, MA December 14, 2011— SwiftMobile announced this week that the fast-growing start-up will be creating mobile venue apps for the SMG-managed Greater Columbus Convention Center.

The company will also build and support an upgrade program that will allow every event at the GCCC to have a set of native mobile apps for their event—starting with a free option.

SwiftMobile will build the GCCC apps for iPhone, iPad, and Android. The apps will give visitors to the Center an indispensable tool for navigating the 1.7 million square foot venue and the greater Columbus metropolitan area—with venue floor plans and basics, area maps, local business listings, and transportation information. And, through the upgrade program, event planners can customize the apps with their branding, agenda, attendee profiles, show floor maps, exhibitor directories and more. Event planners can even request special custom features.

The apps will include opportunities for event planners to sell mobile sponsorships and advertising. Upgrade to the GCCC are priced competitively against more generic mobile web apps.

Craig M. Liston, regional general manager for the Greater Columbus Convention Center noted “Selecting SwiftMobile to develop our customizable event apps and the optional upgrade program will enable us to provide our clients with another value-added amenity, generate a new revenue stream and enhance the guest experience.”

“Our venue program is designed to be easily and profitably deployed by any venue or convention center,” said Kathleen Gilroy, SwiftMobile CEO. “The Greater Columbus Convention Center recognizes why it’s so important for venues to be part of the mobile revolution. No event can rely exclusively on paper directories at this point. It isn’t green, and it isn’t what visitors want.”

Gilroy adds, “There’s no rule that says the event planner also has to be a software developer. Through our partnership with GCCC, we make it incredibly easy and cost-effective for any event headed to Columbus to enjoy the benefits of a superior mobile app.”
