In the eyes of IT execs, Apple’s iPad will seem like an angel compared to the Amazon tablet. On the horizon is a device that will hyper-sensitize the desires of anyone who likes to shop and who doesn’t own an iPad. But it will suffer at a business level from a baked-in bias toward consumer activities.

Jeff Bezos hopes Amazon.com Inc.’s new mobile tablet can be the one to finally knock Apple Inc.’s iPad off the top of the tablet market. Amazon.com Inc. is expected to ship more than 1 million of its new mystery mobile tablet in the third quarter of this year, according to reports.

Is This What Amazon's Tablet Will Look Like?

One Crazy Prediction… (threshold effect?)

“The A-tab will out-magic the magic tab by creating an amazing array of consumer experiences. The amazing-tab will make iPad look like a poorly-maintained mechanical cash register from the 1930′s. It will streamline buying processes unlike we”ve ever seen, and it will use threshold effect to make it fun, inviting, and almost irresistible to use many times a day to buy stuff — lots of stuff — much of it we don”t need, but all of which we desperately want.” — Bill French, iPadCTO

Will an Amazon Tablet Be Right for Business? — JailBake
It wasn’t that long ago that Amazon.com’s Jeff Bezos noted that the Kindle was best suited for book-reading, filling a niche distinct from that of the Apple iPad or other tablet computers. There are several factors as to why Amazon would want to get in on the tablet market, not the least of which is to take on Apple, which is already selling books and music through iTunes.
Similar iPad Form Factor, Much Higher Distraction Factor?
If any CTO ever had the feeling that iPad was likely to be a big distraction to enterprise workers, they”re about to experience the ultimate definition of distraction. Soon to be dubbed “satan”s slate” by enterprises worldwide, I predict the A-tab will be hated by organizations within weeks of its availability. Even if it has good business software and is able to provide useful business utility, it will have a decidedly sharp bias – a consumer device from the ultimate online consumer shopping network.
Anyone who attempts to justify the A-tab as a business tool will soon be facing an IT firing squad. Oddly enough, it will, however, find a few havens within organizations that utilize Amazon as a supply chain.

Amazon Tablet: Consumers Will Love It, Businesses Will Hate It
There”s absolutely no doubt about it — Amazon is building a tablet, but like iPad, it won”t be a “product”. It will be an eco-system of products, services, apps, music, video, games, cloud storage, and on and on. Amazon is the only company positioned to take on the Apple eco-system that has established the compass [...]

While Amazon has yet to confirm anything about its long-rumored tablet, new details have emerged about two new versions of the Kindle e-reader that could appear in the third quarter of the year. According to The Wall Street Journal, one will have a touch screen while the other will be an “improved a
